(Neb.)- Two Cards, Two Rams Headed To State XC

(Chadrad Sports)- Four area runners have qualified for next weekends state cross country meet in Kearney after placing in the top 15 of their respective districts on Thursday.

At the C-4 district in Ogallala, Chadron Freshman Mackenzie Butts bested her previous school record time of 20:06 with a 19:34.9 to finish runner up to Lucia McKeag of Ogallala who crossed the line in 19:23.2.

In the boys race, Sophomore Nathan Burch grinded out a season best performance of 17:46.7 to finish 13th and earn his spot at state.

In the D-6 girls race in Bridgeport a pair of Crawford (Sioux County) runners  pulled out top 15 runs.  Jillian Brennan crossed in 9th with a 21:44 and Kailey Klein finished 13th in 21:57.

Burch is the only runner making a repeat trip after competing at state his Freshman year.

Races will begin next Friday from the Kearney Country Club.
