(Neb)-State Volleyball Subdistricts Begin Tonight

CHADRON - The Nebraska high school volleyball playoffs begin tonight with subdistrict tournaments in the C and D classes.

       C1-12 is in Alliance with 24-4 Mitchell the top seed and Chadron #2. The Tigers take on Gordon-Rushville at 5:00 while Chadron meets Valentine at 6:00 with the winners to meet for the title at 7:00.

       Valentine is 11-19 while Chadron is 14-21, but the Lady Cards are 13-11 after an early 10-game losing streak and 9-6 in October...plus 9 of their losses were to Class B schools.

      Crawford is the top seed in D1-12 at Bayard. The Lady Rams put their 13-14 record up against a 2-22 Paxton at 4:00, followed by at 5:30 Garden County vs Morrill...both with more than 20 losses. The winners play at 7:30.

       The top spot in D2-11 belongs to 26-1 Hyannis, and they'll meet Hay Springs at 4:00 at Chadron Middle School. 14-10 Sioux County faces 13-10 Cody-Kilgore at 5:30 with the championship game at 7:30.

    C2-12 at Scottsbluff High has top-seed Bridgeport taking on Kimball at 4:00 while #3 Hemingford challenges Bayard at 5:30 with the winners meeting at 7:00.

      The D2-12 subdistrict in Sidney has 5 teams and is a 2-day affair. The play-in game today at 4:00 pits Banner County against Minatare...teams with a combined record of 5-41. The winner meets #1 Potter Dix at 7:00 after Leyton and Creek Valley play at 5:30. The title match will be tomorrow at 6:00

     The D1-6 and D2-6 district finals are Friday....matching the subdistrict 11 and 12 winners...while the C1 and C2 district finals will be Saturday.
