(Neb.)- Lady Cards Drop Three Over The Weekend
(Chadron)- The Chadron High softball team had a weekend full of squeakers at the McCook Tournament.
In their first game on Saturday, the Lady Cards held an 8-7 lead over Grand Island Central Catholic through 2.5-innings but gave up three runs in the bottom of the third and were never able to regain the lead. Chadron out hit GICC 12 to 11 and committed two less errors in the contest.
In their third meeting of the season, Alliance once again got the better of the Cardinals. The Dawgs jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Chadron brought two runs accross in the bottom of the 2nd. A run in the 3rd and a six run Alliance 5th inning pushed their lead back out to 10-runs before Chadron dropped five runs of their own in the bottom half of the final inning for the final score.
In their final game of the day Chadron jumped out to a 2-1 lead over Gothenburg through three innings complete, but gave up a 5 spot in the top of the 4th inning to trail 5-2. That score would hold for only one inning, when Chadron tacked on three runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to cut the deficit to one run, but the Cardinals failed to bring anymore runs home. The Lady Swedes out hit Chadron 8 to 7, but committed more errors by the tally of 5 to 2.
After the weekend Chadron now sits at 3-5 on the season and will travel to Gering on Tuesday with first pitch slated for 7:00 p.m.
