(Neb.)- D2CCA Selects Herl As Regional Scholar Athlete Of The Year
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The NCAA Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association has named Chadron State College track and field standout Mel Herl as the South Central Region Scholar-Athlete of the year.
Herl, who completed her college career in May, was a two-time NCAA champion and six-time All-American. She graduated with a 3.82 GPA in Sports & Recreation Management.
Herl was one of 9 female and 8 male regional winners selected from among conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. She won for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, which is part of the South Central Region.
The RMAC's male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Colorado School of Mines basketball player Gokul Natesan, was the men's South-Central Regional honoree.
Selected as the D II National Scholar-Athletes of the Year were two seniors: golfer Marie Coors of Saint Leo University in Florida and basketball player Adam Kile of the University of California-San Diego. Both posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.
