(Neb)-Author Jarret Krosoczka To Speak Monday Morning At CSC
CHADRON - Author-illustrator Jarret Krosoczka is visiting Chadron State College tomorrow with a free presentation and book signing from 10:00-11:30 in the Student Center Ballroom that's free and open to the public.
Later in the day, he will meet privately with groups of students to cover specific topics of interest and answer questions.
Krosoczka is the author of the graphic novel "Hey, Kiddo," chosen as the CSC common reading book for this year's freshman class.
The Common Reading Experience program was begun last year to help first-year students transition to college, grow both academically and socially, and participate in guided academic and social activities with other members of the campus community.
A sub-committee of the First Year Experience committee chose "Hey, Kiddo," after reading a variety of novels, graphic novels, and non-fiction books as well as taking input from students who participated in the program last year when the graphic novel "March" by John Lewis was the book.
Subcommittee member Christine Fullerton says the input of the students led to the decision to again use a graphic novel with Hey, Kiddo the eventual choice.
Fullerton says it's a timely topic, written in an accessible way that touches on many different issues, including addiction, art, and family relationships, which we felt would yield fruitful discussions."
