(Neb)-WNCC To Celebrate Construction Completion Thurs
SCOTTSBLUFF - Western Nebraska Community College is celebrating completion of the $18.5-million dollar renovation and expansion of its Scottsbluff Campus Main Building with a Grand Reopening this Thursday.
Interim President John Harms says the celebration will begin outside the building at 4:00 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 and tours of the building from 5:00-6:30.
The 21-month project, the first major changes to the building since its construction in 1969, includes the Platte Valley Companies Performing Arts Center, Howard Olsen Student Success Center, Buddy's Books & Bistro, and a Learning Commons.
The 79-year old Harms, who was president of WNCC for 30 years before retiring in 2006, says each of the additions will be a positive additional not only for the college but for the community as well.
The public has already seen part of the completed project as the Judy Chaloupka Theater in the Performing Arts Center was the home of this summer's Theatre West summer repertory program.
