(Neb)-1-Year Old Dies After Spending All Day In Hot Car
COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) - Columbus police say a 1-year-old boy died Wednesday night after being left all day in a hot vehicle by his mother. Names have not been released.
Columbus Police Captain Todd Thalken says the boy's 37-year-old mother mistakenly left him inside the vehicle in the parking lot of her workplace from about 8 a.m. to 5:40 p.m.
Captain Thalken says authorities have concluded the boy's death was a mistake, noting his mother had a daily routine that was disrupted Wednesday.
The National Weather Service says the high temperature in Columbus, about 100 miles west of Omaha, on Wednesday was 86 degrees, but in the car it easily could have topped 130.
