(Neb)-Sugar Valley Rally Visits Hemingford, Alliance Today
SCOTTSBLUFF - The 31st annual Sugar Valley Rally has its main competition today, with dozens of vintage cars at least 50 years old taking part.
The first car will leave Fremont Motors in Scottsbluff at 8:15, make a 15-minute pit stop in Hemingford about 10:00, arrive in Alliance for the lunch break around 11:40, and have another pit stop at Chimney Rock at 3:40. The public invited to visit the cars and teams at all 3 stops.
Although commonly called a race, the Sugar Valley Rally actually a precision-driving contest where drivers and navigators follow a predetermined course set through specific times, speeds and distances with points deducted for getting to the checkpoints too fast or too slow.
