(Neb)-NU Names Retired Provost As Interim President
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The University of Nebraska Board of Regents has named longtime administrator and faculty member Susan Fritz as the school's interim president-elect, with both sides agreeing she will not be a candidate for the permanent position.
Fritz will lead the university while it conducts a national search for a permanent successor to Hank Bounds, who is stepping down after 4 years on Aug 15. She will be the first woman to lead the University of Nebraska, which became a multi-campus system 51 years ago.
Fritz joined Nebraska as an instructor at UNL in 1989 and went on to hold various positions, including executive vice president and provost. A Nebraska native who grew up on a farm outside Lincoln and continues to farm near Crete, she holds a bachelor's, master's, and doctorate from UNL.
