(Neb)-Storm Postpones CSC Scholastic Day
CHADRON - Chadron State College has postponed its 58th annual Scholastic Contest, scheduled for tomorrow on campus.
The school cites winter weather and hazardous driving conditions, and says CSC officials will coordinate with participating high schools to determine a new date sometime in the next few weeks..
Nearly 1,200 students from 40 high schools in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming were scheduled to take part in the Scholastic Contest, but the latest storm has closed the campus for the last 2 days as well as tomorrow.
An April storm the day before last year's Scholastic Contest led all but 9 schools and 177 students to cancel. The smaller number of participants led to a few of the subject area tests to be dropped.
Ironically, this year's contest is threatened by a storm because was moved back a week at the request of several high schools because of conflicts with the FBLA and FFA state competitions and conventions.
