(Neb)-Chadron School Board To Pick Supt Search Consultant Tonight
CHADRON - The Chadron School Board meets tonight in regular session at 5:30 in the district office with an agenda that includes picking the consultant that will help the board chose the district's next superintendent.
Dr Caroline Winchester is retiring at the end of her current contract in June 2020 and the school board hopes to pick her successor before the end of this year.
Board members last month interviewed the 3 consultants who responded to a Request For Proposal. Two of them have led Chadron superintendent searches before.
McPherson and Jacobson led the process that resulted in the hiring of Dr Sherlock Hirning in 2004 while the Nebraska School Board Association helped the school board pick Winchester in 2010. The third consultant is the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association.
All 3 proposals are similar. McPherson and Jacobson, with 725 superintendents hired since 1991, bid $6,900 plus expenses while the School Board Association submitted a bid of $6,000 that includes advertising costs but not travel expenses.
The rural school group is the newest of the 3 to enter the superintendent search field, having done 22 in the last 6 years. It's bid is the lowest at $5,250 plus travel and advertising expenses but also includes a two-year guarantee.
The school board tonight is also scheduled to adopt the district calendar for next school year, and to take action on a proposal for revamping the floor of the high school auditorium floor.
