(SD)-New Charges Filed Over Red Cloud Indian School Threats
PINE RIDGE, S.D. (AP) - The man arrested at the Red Cloud Indian School on the Pine Ridge Reservation for making threats three weeks ago now faces new federal charges of making threats and possessing a firearm in a school zone.
An affidavit says Daniel Richardson Jr had been encouraged to make a video for an open house because he made a $1,000 donation to the school last year, but the school employee who received it on Sept. 20 found it contained threats and Richardson holding up a machete.
The employee contacted Oglala Sioux tribal police, who told Richardson not to come to the reservation or the school, but he did anyway the following day and was arrested when he showed up on school grounds. Authorities say he had a revolver under the front seat of his pickup truck.
