(Neb)-Disturbance At Scottsbluff County Jail Ends Peacefully
GERING, Neb. (AP) - Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says a disturbance last night at the County Detention Center ended peacefully after about an hour with no injuries.
Sheriff Overman says that 3 adult male inmates in the maximum security area became upset with staff about 7:15, barricaded themselves in a cell, and refused to come out.
Overman said that although they had no formal weapons, the inmates did have a set of broken handcuffs and a container of urine which they threatened to use against officers.
The situation was resolved around 8:30 p.m., when the inmates came out of the cell peacefully. Overman he didn't expect any additional charges to be filed against the inmates
Personnel from multiple agencies responded including Overman's office, the Gering police, Nebraska State Patrol, Gering Fire Department, and Valley Ambulance.
