(Neb)-Black Tie Calf Fry Tonight Listen
CHADRON - The Chadron State College Rodeo Club holds its biggest fundraiser of the year, the annual Black Tie Calf Fry, tonight at 6:00 in the CSC Student Center Ballroom. Tickets are $15 if purchased from any rodeo team member or $20 if purchased at the door.
CSC rodeo coach Dustin Luper says the event is vital for the rodeo team because it pays most of the program's expenses each year.
The Black Tie Calf Fry includes dinner, live and silent auctions western items and art, live music, and Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer Marvin Garrett as the featured speaker.
Garrett, a native of South Dakota and a 3-time high school state wrestling champion, was the PRCA Rookie of the Year in 1984 and went on to become a 4-time world champion bareback rider before retiring in 2008.
In addition to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame, Garrett is also in the South Dakota and WYoming Sports Halls of Fame. He is the owner and operator of the Flying G ranch near Rosette, Wyoming, where he raises bucking horses, hosts camps and gives private lessons. In his spare time, he's in his third year as the head rough stock coach of the Gillette College rodeo team.
