CHADRON - Chadron High School claimed the overall title at the Best of the West Business Invitational last Friday at Chadron State College. Some 60 students from Chadron, Alliance, Bridgeport, Hay Springs, and Hemingford took part with Alliance the runner-up and Hemingford 3rd.

The competition included written tests in 7 subject areas as well as a job interview contest for seniors. In the team standings,  CSC faculty and student members of Phi Beta Lambda judged and ran the event, which was co-sponsored by the college and the Nebraska Council on Economic Education,

The competition followed FBLA - Future Business Leaders of America rules, which council field representative Josh Hinrichs said made it good preparation for the FBLA State Leadership Conference coming up in Omaha this April.

Chadron State is home to one of 5 small business development centers in the state run by the Council on Economic Education and center administrator and CSC professor Dr Gary Dusek says local and state staff provided a lot of help in planning the competition.

CSC Dean of Business, Entrepreneurship, Applied and Mathematical Sciences, and Sciences Dr Joel Hyer says he was was impressed with the turnout and the quality of the participants.
