(Neb)-Philadelphia Educator New Omaha School Supt

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The chief academic officer of the Philadelphia school district has been named the new superintendent of the Omaha school distict. 55-year old Cheryl Logan replaces Mark Evans, who is retiring after five years as superintendent.

     Omaha is Nebraska's largest district with about 52,000 students, but the Philadelphia schools have some 135,000.
     The Omaha school board selected Logan from 74 candidates and two finalists. The other finalist was Harrison Peters, deputy superintendent of Hillsborough County Schools in Tampa, Florida.
