(Neb)-Gov's Walk Touts Wellness Listen
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Governor Pete Ricketts led his annual 20-minute Governor's Walk around the State Capitol yesterday to encourage Nebraskans to exercise regularly and keep using the NE150 Challenge for motivation.
The challenge, created last year as part of the state's centennial, is a year-long, web-based wellness program that lets participants track their physical activity miles and minutes, earning virtual badges as they meet certain benchmarks.
)rganizers say it will continue under the same name for the foreseeable future. The governor said that's because "Wellness is a key to living the Good Life," and the Challenge is free for individuals and families while companies can join a competition version for $500.
Ricketts encouraged all Nebraskans to pursue active lifestyles and healthy living for themselves and their families.
The NE150 Challenge attracted more than 5,000 participants last year, many of whom used it to find local events or trails and parks where they can walk, run, bike or paddle.
