(Neb)-Scottsbluff Fire Chief Retires While On Administrative Leave
SCOTTSBLUFF - Longtime Scottsbluff Fire Chief Dana Miller has retired after being placed on paid administrative leave Nov. 29, but there's still no word on why he was on leave. MIller has been with the Scottsbluff Fire Department for over 30 years and the chief for 18.
Miller initially said only that he was on leave pending an investigation, and now says only that he's been eligible to retire for some time.
Scottsbluff City Manager Nathan Johnson had declined to discuss Miller's situation, saying it was a personnel matter, but the city released a prepared statement on his retirement on Thursday.
It says the city appreciates Miller's "commitment, dedication and leadership for 30+ years in the Fire Department," thanks him for his service, wishes him "nothing but the best in retirement."
Scottsbluff Police Chief Kevin Spencer has been named to serve as interim fire chief as well until a permanent replacement is selected.
