(Neb)-Kimball Motel Managers Plead Guilty In Slavery Case

By: John Axtell Posted at: 12/20/2017 02:09 AM
KIMBALL, Neb, (AP) -The former managers of the Super 8 Motel in Kimball have pleaded guilty to enslaving an illegal immigrant for more than a year, forcing him to work without pay and abusing him.

50-year-old Vishnubhai Chaudhari and 44-year-old Leelabahen Chaudhari will be sentenced March 19 on counts of conspiracy and harboring an alien for financial gain.

Federal prosecutors say their victim was from India and that Leelabahen Chaudhari regularly assaulted the victim. He was eventually able to escape with the help of a motel guest and Kimball law enforcement.

The U-S Justice Department declines to say what eventually happened to the man, citing privacy concerns.
