(SD)-Suspected Drunk Driver Kills 3 Members Of Res Family Including Pregnant Mother
PINE RIDGE, S.D. - Only a few details have been released about a 2-vehicle drunk driving accident on the Pine Ridge Reservation Saturday night that killed 3 members of a Wanblee family and an unborn fetus.
Oglala Sioux Tribal Police Chief Mark Mesteth says 42-year old Waylon Red Elk Sr, his 34-year old wife Jaylene Pretends Eagle, and their 1-year-old son Waylon Red Elk Jr were killed when their car collided with one driven by a man believed to have been intoxicated.
Chief Mesteth did not release the name and condition of the second driver and FBI spokesman Craig Lisher says he has no details on the crash, which occurred in Wanblee
According to the obituary sent out by the Sioux Funeral Home, Jaylene Pretends Eagle was 7 months pregnant with her 7th child at the time of her death.
