(OELRICHS, S.D.)-The community of Oelrichs, S.D., is celebrating a special milestone this weekend – their 125th anniversary. Organizers say they have lots of things planned to help residents and visitors fully enjoy the special time.
From noon to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, there’s arts, crafts, and food booths set up in the town park. Folks can visit the HistoryMuseum at the community center and pick up their event T-shirts there as well. Feel free to stop by the information booth at the school for more on what’s happening this weekend.
At 5:00 p.m., the town will offer horsedrawn town tours as well as kids’ Baggo and a scavenger hunt at the school. Or head over to the town park for a game of horseshoes and an adult Baggo tournament. At 7:00 p.m., the school will be the place for a chance to mingle and enjoy some entertainment, and at 8:00 p.m., there’s music with the Randy Hamilton Band at The Office.
Rise and shine early on Saturday for breakfast at the school from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and also make a quick stop by the information booth to register if you didn’t on Friday. Starting at 8:00 a.m., enjoy more arts, crafts, and food booths at the town park, pick up T-shirts and view the History Museum at the community center, and also see the town’s 125th postmark while you’re there.
The beard and costume contest takes place at 9:00 a.m. at the school, and the parade starts at 11:00 a.m. In the afternoon, enjoy a barbeque lunch and then get ready for the Last Roundup Rodeo and Wild Ride. A car show and poker run will be taking place at the Black Hills Saloon at 1:00 p.m., and at 5:00 p.m., the school will host an all-school reunion and dinner. Stick around for a street dance at the community center starting at 9:00 p.m., featuring TrYAD band and Brett Hamilton.
On Sunday, there’s breakfast at the school from 8:00-10:00 a.m., and cowboy church at 9:00 a.m. at the Black Hills Saloon. More arts, crafts, and food booth fun abound at the town park, and the History Museum will again be open at the community center. The Slack Rodeo starts at 10:00 a.m., and from 1:00-5:00 p.m., enjoy the final Last Roundup Rodeo and hang around to see if you’re the winner of the 125th commemorative rifle giveaway.
It’s a whopping good time in Oelrichs this weekend and the perfect time to visit.
