(Chadron)-The Dawes County District Court was in session Tuesday morning at the Dawes County courthouse.

Also in district court, Michael Martin was sentenced on charges of felony driving under the influence, along with open container, driving left of center, and failing to use a seatbelt. On the first count Martin was given 90 days in jail, a $1000 fine, and 2 years of a revoked license. On the three other charges, Martin will pay a $100 fine each.
Dawes County Public Defender Attorney Paul G. Wess of Chadron also took action in court Tuesday as he withdrew his name as council on several cases as he was recently nominated by Governor Dave Heineman to take over an available judgeship in the 12th Judicial District of Nebraska. Wess will be overseeing district proceedings in the Box Butte city of Alliance.
