(Neb.)-Special Election Set For October 4

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 08/15/2011 08:57 PM

(Chadron)-The Chadron City Council approved a resolution setting a special recall election after the Dawes County Clerk's office notified them of the results of a petition circulation.  The special election which will decide the fate of Mayor John Chizek and Vice Mayor Steve Duncan, will be held on Tuesday, October 4.  The location is yet to be determined as the usual voting place, the Physical Activity Center at Chadron State College, requires two years notice prior to reserving the facility.  However, the Assumption Arena is being considered.

This date will also give the Clerk's office enough time to prepare for the election.  Some of the preparations include printing of ballots, advertising, and hiring polling workers.  Chizek and Duncan both abstained from voting, and the other Council members approved the resolution.
