02/24/2018 - Hoksila Sky Arapahoe

Funeral services for Hoksila Sky Arapahoe, age 18, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the JoAnn Sierra Residence in Pine Ridge, SD. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Emerson Spider Jr., Ricky Sierra, Robert Sierra, and John Sierra.
Burial will be at the Lakota Mennonite Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night starting at 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Wakpamni CAP Office in Pine Ridge, SD. The second night will start at 4:00 PM on Friday, February 23, 2018 at JoAnn Sierra’s residence in Pine Ridge, SD.
Hoksila was born on August 14, 1999 in Pine Ridge, SD to Alden Arapahoe and Jada Jeaunesse. He made his journey to the Spirit World on February 19, 2018 near Rapid City, SD.
Hoksila is survived by son Alden Trace Arapahoe; brothers Mahpiya To Arapahoe, Keaton Chaske Shepard, Antonio Weston Jr., Halen Bad Bear, Emery Arapahoe Jr., Wakincyan Blindman, Elias Condon, BJ Mesteth, Matthew and Seriano Arapahoe, All Arapahoe, Hoof, Catches, Sierra, Ohitika Elk, and Janis Brothers, and Eder Boys; stepmother April Stoldt; sisters Arianna Steele, Sage Blindman, Valli Mousseaux, Sativa Hoof, Daryl Twiss, Hoof Sisters, Arapahoe Sisters, Kadence and Grace Weston, Catches, Arapahoe, Sierra, Little Hawk and Stoldt Sisters; aunts Edeline Rose Elk Boy-Arapahoe, Mary Ortiz, Kim Weston, Esparza Sisters, Mesteth Sisters, Catches, Wolohe, and Janis Sisters, Quintiza Iron Bull, Little Hawk, Waters, and Tobacco Sisters and Chrys Barrett; uncles Emery Arapahoe Jr., Dave Arapahoe III, John Eder, Antonio Weston Sr., Carlos Hoof, Joe Hoof, Joe Arapahoe, Catches, Sierra, Little Hawk and Tobacco Families; special grandparents JoAnn Sierra, Susan Roan Eagle, Sylvester (Dena) Wolohe, Arlene Demery and Joe Catches; niece, Sasha (Carlos) Thunder Hawk, Hoof Girls, Luna Hopper and Solis Cuny; and grandson Choppa Thunder Hawk-Hoof.
Hoksila was preceded in death by parents Alden Arapahoe and Jana Jeaunesse; brother Thomas Arapahoe; sisters Anpo Wicahpi Weston and Tia and Zuya Mani-Arapahoe; aunt Darlene Arapahoe-Elk; uncle Thomas Hoof; grandfathers Emery Arapahoe Sr. and Dale Catches; and great-grandparents Valentino Sierra Sr., Francis and Phyllis Mesteth, Baby Joe Sierra, Edelyn Catches and Dave Arapahoe.
Hoksila had numerous special friends and friends. You know who you are. You will always be a part of this family. Hok loved you all.
