Funeral services for Alan Lynn Jack Sr. “Zuya Wicasa,” age 69, will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Crazy Horse School Commons Area in Wanblee, SD with Father Ron Seminara officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Richard Moves Camp.
Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Hisle, SD.
A visitation service will be from 12:00-6:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Eagle Nest CAP Office in Wanblee, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Crazy Horse School Commons Area in Wanblee, SD.
Alan Sr. was born on June 18, 1948 in Pine Ridge, SD to Isadore Jack and Edith (Red Willow) Jack. He made his journey to the Spirit World on December 25, 2017 in Rapid City, SD.
Alan entered the United States Army on November 26, 1968 in Sioux Falls, SD and served his country overseas during the Vietnam War from June 26, 1969 to March 8, 1970. During his military service, Alan received the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Purple Heart. Alan was honorably discharged from the United States Army on November 11, 1971 after serving 2 years and 13 days.
Alan is survived by children Billie Jean Skaggs of Arkansas, Arlo Jack of Oklahoma, Bianca Jack of Pine Ridge, SD, Chance Chief Eagle of Oglala, SD, and Alan Jack Jr. and Lawrence Jack of Parmelee, SD; siblings Patrick Jack of Wanblee, SD, Martin Jack of Arizona, and Twila Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alan was preceded in death by parents Isadore and Edith Jack and brothers Leslie Jack and Seymour Jack.
