01/06/2018 - Victoria Makes Him First

A Mass of Christian Burial for Victoria Elizabeth Makes Him First “Tokahe Win,” age 82, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Father Joe Daoust, S.J., and Sister Barb Bogenschutz officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Mike Little Boy.
 
Burial will be at the Our Lady of the Sioux Catholic Cemetery in Oglala, SD.
 
A two-night wake service will begin at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD. A Rosary service will be at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD.
 
Victoria was born on June 27, 1935 to Lucille T. Running Hawk and Jimpson Dearly in Pine Ridge, SD. She passed away on December 27, 2017 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
 
Elizabeth is survived by brother Jerry Dearly of St. Paul, MN; sister Catherine Looking Elk of Oglala, SD; children William Makes Him First Sr. of Oglala, SD, Ira Makes Him First Jr. of San Rafael, CA, and Maria Makes Him First and Phillip Yellow Hawk of Oglala, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
 
Elizabeth was preceded in death by parents Jimpson Dearly and Lucille Running Hawk; husband Ira C. Makes Him First Sr.; grandparents George H. Dearly and Virginia (Eagle Horse) Dearly, Charles Running Hawk Sr. and Elsie (Brave) Running Hawk, and Jesse Lefthand; great-granddaughter Baylee Elizabeth Makes Him First; and cousin Charles “Cisco” Running Hawk Jr.
 
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Victoria Elizabeth Makes Him First “Tokahe Win.”
