12/16/2017 - Joseph Lee Catches

Funeral services for Joseph Lee Catches, age 44, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD with Father Joe Daoust, S.J., Sister Barb Bogenschutz, Charles McGaa, and Pastor Stanley Hollow Horn officiating. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Pete Catches Jr.
Burial will be at the Tobacco Family Cemetery in Calico, SD.
A two-night wake service will begin with the first night starting at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Billy Mills Hall. The second night will start at 5:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD. 
A Rosary service will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD.
Joseph was born on October 9, 1973 in Bridgeport, NE to Regina Tobacco and Dale Catches Sr. He made his journey to the Spirit World on December 8, 2017 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Joseph is survived by mother Regina Tobacco of Calico, SD; children Jolissa Catches, Julianna Catches, and Lillianna Catches of Alliance, NE; brothers Dale “Tuffy” Catches and Harold William Tobacco of Calico, SD, Wayland Gene Tobacco and Dale Glen Warrior Jr. of Chadron, NE, Chad Wayne Tobacco and Jonathan Catches of Rapid City, SD, and Harley Catches and Danny Boy Tobacco of Pine Ridge, SD; sisters Heather Rose Poor Bear of Wounded Knee, SD, Cora Lee Warrior, Theresa Catches, and Lora Catches of Calico, SD, Shelly Irene (Warrior) Goings of Chadron, NE, Nona Jean Warrior of Rapid City, SD, Tia Catches of Oelrichs, SD, and Kelly Catches of Pierre, SD; significant other Stephanie Little Bear of Pine Ridge, SD; and stepchildren Tera Jo Marks of Rapid City, SD, Nikki Marks, Derek Marks, Clarinda DuBray, and Jeremiah Marks, all of Pine Ridge, SD.
Joseph was preceded in death by father Dale Catches Sr.; siblings Lisa Marie Tobacco, Jesse Dean Tobacco, and Manuel Catches; grandmothers Adeline Catches and Irene (Wounded) Tobacco; and grandfather Vincent Tobacco Sr.
