11/04/2017 - Edna Georgia Irene Wilson

Funeral services for Edna Georgia Irene Wilson, age 51, will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym. Traditional Lakota services will be provided by Richard Broken Nose.
Burial will be at the Wilson Family Cemetery, #4 Community in Pine Ridge, SD.
A one-night wake service will begin at 4:00 PM on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym.
Edna passed away on October 29, 2017 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO. She was born on August 25, 1966 in Washington D.C. to Florence Ellen (Whipple) Wilson and James John Wilson III, better known as “Dr. Jim.” 
Edna traveled a lot with her parents, brothers, and sisters. She has been from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. She has lived in North Forestville, MD, Albuquerque, NM, and Chadron, NE, but her heart has always been at the family home in the #4 Community on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Edna graduated high school at Oglala Community High School in 1984 and briefly attended Chadron State College. She worked at Prairie Winds Casino for a bit. She married Chauncey Lone Elk Jr., and from this union came Christina, Richard, and Florence Lone Elk. Later she met Adrian Cortier, and Andrea Cortier was born. Following this, she met Richard “Rick” Lame and had her last child, Richard Lame Jr.
Edna is survived by father James John Wilson III, who the Patriarch of the Wilson family; daughters Florence Lone Elk of Rapid City, SD and Andrea Cortier of Pine Ridge, SD; sons Richard Lone Elk and Richard Lame Jr. of Pine Ridge, SD; grandchildren Adeline Weston, Angelo Swimmer, Christina Lone Elk, Royal Bull Bear, Jonathan Bull Bear, Timothy Cortier-Bull Bear, and Damarius Corbine-Lame; brothers Charles Wilson of Rapid City, SD and Tom Wilson of Pine Ridge, SD; sisters Lyn Wilson of Rapid City, SD and Donna Wilson of Pine Ridge, SD; and significant other Mark Red Eagle of Pine Ridge, SD.
Edna was preceded in death by mother Florence Ellen (Whipple) Wilson; beloved daughter Christina Lone Elk; oldest brother James John Wilson IV, better known as “Jimmy John”; and special niece Cassandra Pine.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Edna Georgia Irene Wilson.
