Linda A Witt was born June 4th 1942 at her home north of Rushville to Elda and Freda (Gottier). She.passed away with her family at her side on August 16th, 2017, at Rapid City Reginal Hospital after a brief illness.

Linda attended grade school at Piety Hill. After consolidation she attended District 43 School where she graduated 8th grade before graduating from Rushville High School in 1959.

She then went to work for Ed Hollstein for a few years. Then Linda started her career at the Sheridan County Courthouse which lasted some 55 years. She worked for Rita Higgins in the clerk’s office, and then later was elected County Commissioner for a four year term, which she enjoyed very much.

Linda then started the Sheridan County Abstracting Company, which was a very good business for her. She was a perfectionist, the I’s were always dotted and the T’s were always crossed. When Linda did things it was done the right way, not the way some people thought it should be done.

Linda was elected County Assessor and served from 1999 to 2007. She enjoyed that job and enjoyed the people that she worked with.

Linda decided to slow down and worked part time in the Assessor office, also did budgets for various organizations until the time of her death.

For years she was active in the Clinton Methodist Church and the later in the Rushville Church. Linda was community minded and served on several local boards. Losing her ability to walk, bound her to a motorized chair.

Linda is survived by her brother Bentley and wife Pat, nephews and nieces, and a host of other family and friends.

Proceeding her in death, were her parents Elda and Freda, and her sister Lena Downing.
