03/23/2013 - Helen E. Nemecek

Helen E. Nemecek of Chadron, formerly of Grand Island, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2013.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Chadron.

Helen was born in Sedan, Kansas to Hugh and Nellie Scherer on July 2, 1927. She was raised in McCune, Kansas and Stillwater, Oklahoma; where she graduated high school and attended one year of college at Oklahoma State University. She married Wyman Nemecek on July 30th, 1947. The couple moved to Nebraska in 1951.
Helen was elected Worthy Advisor of her Rainbow Assembly in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was a Girl and Boy Scout leader, taught tap dance, was a member and officer in the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW, Sunday School Superintendent, Bible study leader, and a Lay Minister. She enjoyed cooking and doing various crafts.

Husband: Wyman Nemecek of Chadron, NE.
Daughters: Rebecca (Becky) Nemecek of Keosauqua, IA; Elizabeth (Beth) Novak and friend Chuck Klitz of Omaha, NE; Bonita Nelson and husband Don of Ord, NE.
Sons: William (Bill) and wife Marilyn of Chadron, NE; Robert (Bob) and wife Ronell of Lincoln, NE; Bruce and friend Dena Andrianakos of Brule, NE
Grandchildren: 14
Great-Grandchildren: 25
Brother: Richard Scherer and wife Dorothy of Wichita, KS.
Sisters: Janie Woods and husband Charles of Derby, KS; Pat Baker of Edmond, OK; Mary Gunn and husband Joe of Broken Arrow, OK.
Several other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents.
Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron is in charge of arrangements.
