Funeral services for Leon Wayne Long Soldier “Tokala Ohitika”, of Oglala, SD, age 40, will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 7th, 2013 at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala. Father Peter Klink, S.J. and Sister Barb officiating with Traditional Lakota Services officiated by Mr. Ivis Long Visitor, Sr.
Burial is at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oglala, SD.
A two night wake service starts at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, March 5th, 2013 at the Re-Creation Center in Oglala, SD
Mr. Long Soldier passed away February 27th, 2013 at Rapid City, SD. He was born December 25th, 1972.
Immediate survivors include:
Parents: Verdell Long Soldier of Pine Ridge, SD and Louise (Blacksmith) Long Solider of Oglala, SD
Wife: Vanessa Runs After of Rapid City, SD
Daughters: Grace Long Soldier and Ambrosia Long Soldier of Rapid City, SD
Siblings: Fedelia (Robert) Cross, Ina Mae Espinosa, Marian Poor Bear, Priscilla Long Soldier, Alton Long Solider, Nolan Warrior, and Clayton Warrior all of Oglala, SD, and Allen (Jessica) Long Soldier of Pine Ridge, SD. Martin Long Soldier, Verdell Long Soldier, Jr., and Susan Long Soldier-Hiegera all of Rapid City, SD, Marvin Long Soldier of Wanblee, SD.
Leon was preceded in death by his sister, Verlene Long Soldier
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements.
