05/31/2013 - Aspiring Writers to Meet for Writing Workshop in Chadron
The Mari Sandoz Heritage Society will present the 2nd annual Story Catcher Writing Workshop for four days, May 28th-31st on the Chadron State College (CSC) campus. Writers of all levels are invited to explore their creativity and gain insight from noted authors of poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Sessions are open to potential writers ages 16 and up and all abilities.
“This is an exceptional opportunity for aspiring writers to work with professional writers to sharpen their skills,” said Dr. Matt Evertson, workshop organizer and chair of the English Department at CSC.
Classes will be taught on two levels: basic and advanced with a myriad of general sessions with noted authors available to all. Advanced classes are for intermediate writers who have work in progress and are interested in revising and refining their writing for publication with one-on-one feedback from notable authors such as Linda Hasselstrom, Hermosa, So.Dak. and Pamela Carter Joern who is an award-winning novelist, originally from Bridgeport.
Basic writing classes will be taught on Fiction, Beginning Poetry, Beginning Non-Fiction Prose.
Mari Sandoz went to great lengths to encourage other writers through conducting summer writing workshops on college campuses, reviewing manuscripts sent to her by aspiring authors and teaching creative writing through programming produced by Nebraska Public Television.
