(Neb.)-Feddersen Breaks School Record In 66-54 Loss

CHADRON, Neb. -- February 23, 2018 -- The Chadron State College women's basketball team looked to be in control of the game for a good portion of the first half, but an 18-2 run in the fourth quarter was the difference in the ballgame as Black Hills State University marched toward the postseason with a 66-54 win in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on the Eagles' home court Friday night.

Despite the loss, CSC senior guard Kalli Feddersen officially put her mark on the women's basketball program setting a new season record with 192 free throws made, topping the 191 by Lorna Dahlgren in 1994-95. She was 4-for-4 from the line versus the Yellow Jackets.

CSC led by six at the first quarter intermission, when it was shooting 7-for-17 from the field and outrebounding its opponent 14 to 11. That was the Eagles' largest lead of the game, however. Black Hills fought back to tie things up at 6:58 showing in the first half, before it wrested the lead for good after a scoring spree of eight points in under four minutes by freshman forward Lyndzi Rich, who finished 7-for-11 from the field to lead her team with 14 points.

The outcome of the game was still very much in question headed into the fourth quarter, with Chadron State trailing 47-43, but BHSU pounded the ball inside, going perfect on seven foul shots, and turned the ball over tenaciously during their streak to the finish, while the Eagles went 1-for-10 from the field.

Taryn Foxen was the game's leading scorer with 19 points, and led the Eagles with seven rebounds. Feddersen was the only other CSC player in double digits, registering 10 points.

BHSU is now 21-6 overall, and 15-6 in the RMAC. They can clinch a first-round bye and a seed as high as No. 2 in the conference tournament with a win at Regis on Saturday. Chadron State falls to 5-20 on the season.

Chadron State hosts South Dakota Mines in the season finale, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
