(Neb.)- Holiday Tournaments Ignite 2nd Half Of HS Basketball Season

(Chadron)- The holiday basketball tournament season is upon us this weekend with Chadron, Crawford, Hemingford, and Gordon-Rushville all in action.

Chadron will host the George Watson Rotary Holiday Classic at the Chicoine Center at Chadron State College.

The tournament will open at 2:00 p.m on Friday with Valentine meeting Custer, SD in a girl/boy double header.

The evening double header will feature Chadron facing Hemingford at 5:30 p.m and 7:00 p.m.

The losers will meet in 3rd place games on Saturday with the girls at 10:00 a.m and the boys at 11:30 a.m.  The girls championship is set for 1:00 p.m and the boys the follow at 2:30 p.m.

Crawford will compete in the Alliance Holiday Tournament along with Bridgeport, Mitchell, and Alliance.

Both Rams squads will take on Alliance in a girl/boy double header.  The girls game will tip off at 4:00 p.m on Friday with the boys game to follow.  On the other side of the bracket, Mitchell will face Bridgeport with the girls game at 1:00 p.m and the boys game to follow.

Meanwhile Gordon-Rushville travels to Wayne for the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne State College.

The Lady Mustangs will play Wayne at 6:00 p.m on Thursday with the Gordon-Rushville boys meeting Arlington at 4:30 p.m.

Semi-finals will be played on Friday with consolation and championship games on Saturday.

Other teams in the tournament include, Hartington Cedar Catholic, Laurel-Concord/Coleridge, West Point-Beemer, Norfolk Catholic,  and Pender.
