(Neb)-CSC's Brock Thumm RMAC Wrestler Of The Week
COLORADO SPRINGS -- Chadron State College junior Brock Thumm, of Watervliet, Michigan, was voted Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week by a committee of the league's sports information directors on Tuesday.
Thumm went 5-0 with two pins and three decisions to win the 141-pound bracket at the Doane College Open in Crete, Nebraska, on Saturday, December 9. Since the conference requires a minimum of five teams to compete, nominees for this week's RMAC Wrestler of the Week included all who wrestled over the past two weeks.
After a bye in the first round at Doane, Thumm pinned a Division II opponent from Maryville University and an opponent from NAIA No. 14 Baker, both in the first period, to advance to the quarterfinals.
There he met a former Montana state champ from NAIA #1 Grand View University, winning 4-1. In the semis, Thumm won a 9-6 decision over former NCAA Division III national champ Nate Hansen, before taking the title with a 13-7 victory over Kevin Kissane, a former University of Missouri signee now at #25 Pratt CC.
Thumm is the first CSC wrestler this season chosen for the honor.
