By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 09/06/2017 08:10 AM
(Chadron)-  The Chadron High softball team ran into a hot pitcher yesterday and lost at Gering 8-0 in a game that ended in the 6th on the 8-run rule. The Bulldogs' Tori Hoagland needed just 85 pitches as she allowed only 3 hits and struck out 4 over 6 inning.

Gering scored twice in the bottom of the 1st, added 2 more in the 4th, made it 6-0 in the 5th, and ended the game with a walk-off home run with 2 outs in the 6th.

Micah Stouffer took the loss, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts in 3 innings and Dana Dunbar yielded 6 runs on 5 hits in 2 2/3 innings including the game-ending homer.

Kylee Garrett paced the Chadron offense by going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles while Stouffer got the other hit.

The loss drops the Cards to 3-6 on the season ahead of this weekends Scottsbluff Tournament to be held Friday and Saturday.
