(LINCOLN) - The Chadron girls basketball season ended Thursday at the Devaney Center when the Lady Cardinals fell to the defending champions from Pierce 61-47.

Chadron got off to a fast start with a pair of Ashlea Kerr three pointers to open the game. Kerr scored all 12 of Chadron's first quarter points and the game was tied after one. The second quarter proved to be the difference maker as Pierce stifled Chadron's offense to outscore the Lady Cards 16-3 and take a 28-15 lead into halftime.

Chadron fought to stay in the game in the second half, but never got the deficit to less than eight. They were outrebounded in the game 35-22.

Pierce was led by Rachelle Tucker, who finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Kerr scored 25 and finished her high school career with 1,419, which is 78th best in state history for all classes. Peyton Hinn scored 9 to finish as the number two scorer in school history with 1,071.

Chadron finishes the season with a 21-6 record.
