AUSTIN, Texas - The Chadron State College softball team had a hard time finding its offense during the opening day of the St. Edward's University Softball Classic Friday in Austin.

The Eagles, now 1-6, had four hits in a tough 1-0 loss to host St. Edward's before managing two hits in a 10-0 setback to No. 14-ranked Texas Woman's University.

The Eagles will play St. Edward's Saturday at 3:45 p.m. Following Saturday's game, Chadron State will play Texas A&M International and Texas Woman's University Sunday.

During Friday's opener, the Hilltoppers scored an unearned run in the bottom of the second inning and made it stand up to earn a 1-0 victory in a pitcher's dual Friday morning.

Chadron State's Kylee Polsley tossed a complete game, four-hitter and struck out nine batters, but St. Edward's hurler Sarah Debrow got the win in seven innings. Debrow struck out 10 and didn't walk a batter.

The Eagles had their best opportunity to score in the top of the seventh following two singles from Jessica Eatmon and Katelyn Kruger, but Debrow pitched herself out of the jam and got the final batter to fly out.

In addition to Eatmon and Kruger, Rebekah Anthony and Rebecca Wetsch also singled.

Anthony and Eatmon also provided the only base hits for CSC in its 10-0 loss to the Pioneers.

Texas Woman's scored one run in the first inning, added two more in the third and put the game away with a 7-run fourth inning.

Alyssa Galaz led the Pioneers with five RBIs, including a grand slam.
