DENVER (AP) - Brett Olson scored a career-high 30 points to lead Denver, which committed a season-low five turnovers, past South Dakota 75-67 Saturday.
Olson also set career-highs for field goals (eight) and 3-point field goals (six).
After Tyler Flack's jumper with 7:55 left in the first half pulled South Dakota (9-14, 3-5 Summit) within one, but Denver closed the period with a 19-8 run - capped by a Jalen Love 3-pointer - to take a 38-26 advantage into the intermission.
The Coyotes trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half and didn't pull within single-digits until Casey Kasperbauer hit a 3 with 21 seconds remaining.
USD scored eight straight points over a 26 second span, including a 3-pointer by Trey Norris with 7 seconds to go, to make it 73-67, but Olson hit a pair of free throws two seconds late to seal the win for Denver (12-11, 5-3).
