(Neb.)- Eagles Roll Mountaineers
(Chadron)- Thirteen Chadron State College players scored and the Eagles hit 14 3-pointers en route to their convincing 90-62 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over visiting Western State Friday.
All but one of CSC's players who suited for the game scored and the Eagles shot 47 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc as they improved to 9-11 overall and 6-10 in the RMAC in the wire-to-wire victory.
Chadron State, which led 47-21 at halftime, made seven treys in each half and the Eagles made 31 field goals, while limiting Western State to only 20.
The two top scorers for the Eagles came off the bench. Evan Brooks led the way with 19 points and Grant Stone added 11 points and eight rebounds. Kendrick Holliman, who opened the game with an alley-oop dunk, scored 10 points and five others finished with at least six points.
Also for Chadron State, Chris Taylor scored eight points and handed out a game-high six assists and Michael Safer scored five points and added two blocks.
While the Eagles certainly shot well, they also dominated the glass, out-rebounding Western State (2-18, 2-14 RMAC) by a 45-25 margin and they didn't allow the Mountaineers any offensive rebounds. The Eagles, though, had 13 offensive boards and scored 14 second-chance points.
Chadron State will host Colorado Mesa. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
