(S.D.)- Yellowjackets Sign 31 On National Signing Day

By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 02/05/2014 07:00 PM

(Spearfish, SD)- Yellow Jacket head football coach, John Reiners, introduced the entire day's worth of national prospects that signed their National Letter of Intent to play for Black Hills State University on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from the Hall of Fame room in the Young Center.

"The athleticism of this class from top to bottom, I think we really touched on some things in all positions of need.  The staff did a really great job of getting guys in that are good kids and great students as well," Reiners said.

In total, 31 prospects from seven different states - coast-to-coast - pledged to Coach Reiners and the Yellow Jacket football staff to join the 2014-15 team for next season.

"We expect some of these kids to compete for some time, we tell every kid whether he is a returning starter or a true freshman, you better come in and compete for a starting job or otherwise you'll either get passed up, left behind, or you are going to take someone's job," Reiners said.

The state most represented was Colorado, with 11 prospects signed followed by Wyoming with seven overall.  The state of Arizona has more representation then ever in this year's class with five total commits.  Three prospects from California, two from Florida, two from South Dakota, and one from Nevada round out the 2014 recruiting class.

"We think athletically and with who we having coming back, there will be some great competition this spring and next fall."
