Chadron High School senior T.D. Stein was among the first recruits to sign a National Letter of Intent Wednesday to play football at Chadron State College.

Stein was a three year starter at quarterback for the Cardinals and holds the school record for career pass yards with 4,573 and 46 touchdowns. As a senior in 2013 he threw for 1,463 yards and 18 TDs and rushed for seven more scores. He was an all-state honorable mention both his junior and senior years and also starts for the basketball team.

Stein is a third generation Eagle. His father Chris was also a quarterback at Chadron High and became a standout tight end at CSC from 1986 to 1989. Chris Stein is in the CSC Athletic Hall of Fame and is currently the Eagle's offensive coordinator.

T.D.'s uncle Kevin Stein was a QB for four years at CSC (1990, 1992-4). His maternal grandfather, Gil Nitsch, was a three-year letterman (1962-64) and his paternal grandfather, Dick Stein, was the head coach at Chadron for 21 seasons. Dick Stein had a 144-71 record when he retired in 2000 and has been the clock operator for CSC home games for more than a decade.

Wednesday is National Signing Day and thousands of high school athletes across the country will be signing Letters of Intent to play college sports. Chadron State will have more signings to announce throughout the day.
