CHADRON – Alexis Farris, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter from Blair, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Chadron State College, head coach Janel Baily announced Monday.

Farris has had a decorated career at Bennington High School. In 96 sets during her senior year, she had 221 kills, 431 blocks, served 47 aces and added 25 total blocks. Although many of the all-state teams haven't been released yet this year, she was named Class B and Omaha All-Metro Honorable Mention in 2012 as a junior.

"I'm very excited to bring Alexis in and she will be a great addition to our roster," Baily said. "She is a very talented six rotation player with great ball control and the ability to terminate offensively. In addition to her presence on the court, I'm also thrilled about whom she is off the court. Alexis is also a very dedicated student, has great character and fits right in with the team's bubbly personality."

Farris was also a team captain three years and has earned academic all-state honors in track and field. She also played five years of club volleyball in Omaha and four years of club soccer.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Farris excels academically. She has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked second in her class. She is also involved with the Bennington Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America and participated in Bennington's district champion one-act play.
