(Neb.)-Cardinal softball outscores Scottsbluff
Danea Ray was solid both at the plate and in the circle to help the Chadron softball team to an 11-8 win over Scottsbluff Tuesday night.
Ray went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. She was also the winning pitcher, giving up one earned run in seven innings on four hits and four walks while striking out seven. Scottsbluff had seven unearned runs on seven Chadron errors.
Scottsbluff got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Chadron put up five in the bottom half to take the lead. The Bearcats got one more in the second, but Chadron answered with three more to take an 8-3 lead after two innings and sealed the win with three more in the sixth.
Along with Ray, Haley Blundell and Brittany Garza also drove in two runs each to lead the Chadron offense.
With the win, the Cardinals improve to 4-1 to start the season. Their next game will be Sept. 10 at Gering.
