(Colo.)-CarGo, Cuddyer selected for Home Run Derby
A pair of Colorado Rockies will be among the contestants at next week's MLB Home Run Derby at New York's Citi Field.
Outfielders Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer were both selected to represent the National League by team captain David Wright of the Mets. They will be joined by Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper.
Gonzalez was an easy choice as he leads the National League with 24 home runs this season. He also competed last year and was eliminated after hitting just four home runs in the first round.
Cuddyer drew national attention in June for his franchise record 27 game hitting streak. He currently has 15 home runs this season, just one shy of the 16 he hit last season.
The American League will be represented by Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, Orioles first baseman Chris Davis and Tigers first baseman Prince Fielder. Cano will announce the fourth member of the team later this week.
Gonzalez was voted into the starting lineup for next Tuesday's All-Star Game along with Rockies teammate Troy Tulowitzki. Cuddyer was selected as a reserve.
