(Neb.)-Eagles ranked in national magazines
Following a successful 2012 season, the Chadron State College football team is garnering some national attention this summer on newsstands as both Lindy's Sports and Sporting News have ranked the Eagles in their 2013 preseason Division II rankings.
Chadron State, which went 9-3 in 2012 and qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs, are ranked 14th by Lindy's Sports magazine. The Eagles are also ranked 20th by the Sporting News magazine.
Nine starters on offense and six defensive players will return for the Eagles. Also among the returners are All-Americans Alex Ferdinand and Trelan Taylor.
Two of the Eagles' opponents in 2013 are also receiving high praise. West Texas A&M is ranked second and third by Lindy's and the Sporting News, while Colorado State University-Pueblo is ninth and 10th.
Additionally, Lindy's Sports is touting the Eagles' showdown with West Texas A&M at Cowboys Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 12 as one of the best D-II games to watch.
Chadron State will host CSU-Pueblo Saturday, Oct. 12. The ThunderWolves, who won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title last fall, went 12-1 in 2012.
