The Chadron boys golf team had a tough day Friday at Monument Shadows in Gering, placing sixth.
The Cardinals finished with a team score of 371, 50 shots behind Cheyenne Central, which won with a 321.
"Our entire squad had a rough day," coach Randy Burk said. "It seemed they all got off to a bad start and had an up hill battle the rest of the way. We have two meets next week, so we can get things straightened out and hopefully have a good showing at districts."
Matt Lordino and Alec Burk were Chadron's top golfers, both shooting 89. Nick Fraley of Cheyenne Central won the individual title, posting a 76 and beating a Cheyenne East golfer in a playoff.
Chadron's JV faired a little better, placing second. Colin Deines was the top JV player for the team, taking sixth with a 93. Nate Toof was ninth with a 96.
The Cardinals will have two tournaments next week, at Scottsbluff on Tuesday and Ogallala on Thursday.
