(Neb.)-CSC cowboy wins steer wrestling
TORRINGTON, Wyo. – For the second week in row, a Chadron State College cowboy has won the steer wrestling at a Central Rocky Mountain Region rodeo.
The latest winner is Collin Chytka, a sophomore from Broken Bow. He won both go-rounds of the steer wrestling at the Eastern Wyoming College rodeo in Torrington this past weekend with identical times of 4.6 seconds.
At the Colorado State University rodeo the previous weekend, Russell Hipke of Stuart, a junior at Chadron State, was the steer wrestling winner.
Several other Chadron State entries also placed high at the Eastern Wyoming rodeo.
Among them was senior Mitch McAdow of Littleton, Colo. His times of 10.2 and 11.4 seconds placed him second in the down roping averages, but McAdow was the event’s leading money-winner and earned the most points that determine the regional standings.
Two CSC rough stock entries also placed high at the Torrington rodeo. Colton Blanchard of Sulphur, La., was third in bareback riding with 70 and 74 points and Jace Blackwell of Rapid City was fourth in saddle bronc riding with 72 and 62 points.
Four more Chadron State entries also qualified for the finals on Sunday, but none of them placed among the top six in the averages. They are Raegen Scott of Douglas, Wyo., in goat tying, Amy Deichert of Speafish, S.D., in barrel racing, Lane Day of Bartlett, Neb., in tie down roping and Day and Kourt Starr of Dupree, S.D., in team roping.
The next rodeo in the region will be at Casper College on April 19-21.
