By: Andrew Lacy Posted at: 02/21/2013 09:17 PM
The Chadron boys basketball team came up short Thursday, losing their subdistrict final to Kimball 54-32.

It was a defensive struggle early on, with Kimball holding an 8-3 lead after the first quarter. The Longhorns were able to expand their lead to as much as 16 before a flurry of scoring from Chadron made it 22-12 at halftime.

The Cardinals were able to cut the deficit to five in the third quarter but were never able to get closer as Kimball pulled away for a blowout win.

Chadron didn't have any players score in double figures as Bo Westlake, Vonsinh Sayaloune and Spencer Eliason each finished with seven. Michael Daum led Kimball with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Jacob Reader scored 15.

Kimball advances to face Gothenburg in the district final Monday. Chadron's season ends with a 7-15 record.
