The Chadron girls basketball played suffocating defense in their subdistrict final Thursday to beat Kimball 57-29.
Chadron's offense got off to a fast start thanks to hot shooting from Peyton Hinn and Bailea Kerr, while Kimball didn't score its first basket until there were five seconds remaining in the first quarter to give the Cardinals a 14-2 lead after one.
The lead ballooned to 20 in the third quarter and the game was never close after that. Kerr put up a double double to lead Chadron with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Hinn added 11 and Briley Hannaford chipped in 12.
With the win, Chadron advances to the district final against Gothenburg. The game will be Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in Sidney.
